wg group for faculty and TAs

Information that needs to be accessed by ordinary students belongs to a Unix group named wg, and at the same time, it is configured not to give read and write permission to users other than that group.

How to register

The wg group can be joined by faculty or TA (up to 3 people per subject). If you would like to participate, please send the following information to the Information Infrastructure Center ( support@cc.uec.ac.jp ) and we will contact you back.

Caution

When registering for TA, faculty members should contact us via campus email .

Until the next system update (until February 2026)

TA

until the end of the fiscal year

Caution

You will be unsubscribed from the wg group without notice after the registration period expires. Especially if you are a TA and need to register for more than one year in a row, please let us know as soon as possible .

Mailing list for wg group

To provide important information, we will put all subscribers <UEC account>@e-du.cc.uec.ac.jp on the edu-staffs@cc.uec.ac.jp mailing list. Be sure to check their email address at @e-du.cc.uec.ac.jp . If necessary メール転送 (非サポート) , please.

How to use wg group on education server

The educational server sol uses Linux, and in order to switch between groups to which you belong, use the newgrp command.

  1. log in to sol

ssh <UECアカウント>@sol.edu.cc.uec.ac.jp
  1. changeover

By executing the command below, the shell belonging to the wg group will be started

newgrp wg

Note

Files newly created by processes launched in this shell belong to the new wg group.

  1. Get out of shell launched with newgrp command

The following command returns you to the shell that belonged to the previous group.

exit

Password change by wg group

As an emergency measure in case of unavoidable circumstances such as lectures and registration, the UEC accounts of faculty members belonging to the wg group are authorized to immediately reset the passwords of other users’ UEC accounts.

Danger

When changing passwords by the wg group, it is the responsibility of the executor to confirm the following.

  • Target user agrees to reissue

  • You can confirm that the user who requested reissuance is the user of the account by identification card , etc

in the case of a small number of people

If there are only a few people, you can set a new password on the spot from the password change system in the presence of the wg group faculty.

When there are a large number of applicants

If you have a large number of users, you can reset the passwords of the specified multiple UEC accounts to automatically generated ones below.

  1. Create a password change account file using an editor, etc. as follows.

This is a file with one account per line.

  1. Upload the password you created from Multiple User Password Bulk Reset System

  2. The system automatically generates a new password and uses it to reset the old password.

The new password will be printed out on a printer in the Information Technology Center. After about 20 minutes, please come to the Information Technology Center Office on the 4th floor of the East Building No. 3 with your Student/Staff ID .

Caution

Basically, official ID is not acceptable. If you do not have an official ID, please contact us at the address below. The Information Technology Center does not accept applications for the issuance of ID cards. Please note that the Center for Information Technology does not accept applications for the issuance of ID cards.
